UNANIMOUSLY RESOLVED
a. The application for Section 42 (i) – Consent Use in respect Erf 29532, Goodwood to permit the for the installation of a 25m mast and freestanding telecommunication base station BE REFUSED in terms of Section 98(c) of the City of Cape Town Municipal Planning By-Law, 2015.
b. The application for Section 42 (b) – Permanent Departure to permit the relaxation of the 4.5m street building line to 0,0m for the installation of a 25m mast and freestanding telecommunication base station in respect of Erf 29532, Goodwood BE REFUSED in terms of Section 98(c) of the City of Cape Town Municipal Planning By-Law, 2015.
REASONS FOR DECISION:
1. The monopole design proposed by the applicant will have an unacceptable adverse impact on the visual character of the area.
2. The existing urban environment consists of mainly of single-and double storey structures. The proposed height of the monopole can be measured at 25m (from bas to top of monopole) which is not consistent with development in the surrounding area.
3. There are 5 existing or proposed mast within a 500m radius of this site.
