UNANIMOUSLY RESOLVED:

That the application in terms of Section 42 (a) – Rezoning of a portion on Erf 235, Goodwood in order to erect a 15m freestanding base telecommunication station BE REFUSED in terms of Section 98(c) of the City of Cape Town Municipal Planning Amended By-Law, 2016 in accordance with the unnumbered Site Plan, attached as Annexure G.

REASONS FOR DECISION:

1. The proposed telecommunication installation would have an unacceptable adverse impact on the existing urban environment and on the visual character and amenity of the surrounding residential areas.
2. The proposed freestanding cell mast will be out of character due to its height and non-residential appearance.
3. The application is not consistent with Councils Cell Mast Policy, with respect to co-location and to consider combined use of Councils infrastructure such as lampposts.
