The Subcouncil Manager introduced the report of Service Requests in Subcouncil 14. A total of 4592 notifications were created during the period in question for areas within Subcouncil 14 geographical area. Of these 4123 were completed, 249 are in process and 220 notifications were outstanding. A range of factors are explored including, the status of notifications per ward, the number and status of notifications per suburb, the Work Centre to which notifications were assigned, the incidence of notifications by street and the type of notifications per street Most notifications in order of frequency are related to Electricity- Ndabeni, COCT Complaints and Reds. Ald Jacobs was not happy that it takes almost a month for a Street light to be repaired, in some cases the C3 would reflect closed while it is still open. Sewer reports takes One (1) to Two (2) weeks to be resolved. She indicated that there is an underground problem with the Sewer Infrastructure due to increasing population and the Sewer Infrastructure was built 56 years ago. She further requested for an Engineer to examine the Sewer Infrastructure in Manenberg. The Subcouncil Manager indicated that in one of the Activity Day Meeting the Regional Manager from Water and Sanitation presented their model, which consisted of a number of factors that contributes to Sewer blockages. Foreign objects put in the Sewer System are a contributing factor to blockages. Cllr Adams indicated that the Subcouncil should look at the number of sewer problems and the aged Infrastructure. He was concerned about when Department of Water and Sanitation is going to start with the Upgrades. On 29 June 2023 there was a Media Release which stated that the rehabilitation is expected to be completed by 2025. Cllr Cassiem proposed for the adoption of the resolution. Cllr Nqavashe seconded the proposal. There was unanimous agreement with the resolution.
