Resolution detail

Mr. George was present to address the item.

Cllr Mckenzie said that he is concerned as the report shows zero Street People that has been screened for all the wards.

Cllr Esau mentioned that the report is not a true reflection as he has sent numerous emails to officials about a lady staying at the bus stop in Owen Road in Matroosfontein. He also said he will forward the email to Mr. George. He might have sent the request to the wrong officials.

Ald Thompson also said that the figures are incorrect. They also have a gentleman staying opposite the library in Angela Street, Valhalla Park.

Ald Smith said that the utilization of the EPIC tools has been extended. They have a response coordination process as Community Arts and Community Development and Environmental Health Departments use the tool for monitoring service requests and subsequent responses to it.

Cllr McKenzie said that he would like to send the report back to the department and get a true reflection of the comments made by Ald Thompson and Cllr Esau.

Mr. George said that he notes the comments disputing that there were no interventions conducted in Subcouncil 15. The department are conducting investigations. Service requests are directed to the team and the Area Head to investigate. He said that the response from their department takes no longer than a week.

He also said that in a meeting he attended there was feedback that their department does not follow up on complaints. Upon investigating the matter it was found that complaints were logged to an official not within their department.

Mr. George said they check the EPIC system weekly.

Cllr McKenzie said the report will be noted and asked all Councillors to forward complaints directly to Mr. Georges for his intervention and report in the next Subcouncil meeting. There was unanimous agreement with the resolution.

It was RESOLVED that the Quarterly Progress Report on The Street People Programme Interventions Undertaken By The Street People Unit within Subcouncil 15 BE NOTED with comments from councillors.
