Resolution detail

Ms. Norma Lucas was present to address the item. There was unanimous agreement with the resolution. It was RESOLVED that the Recreation and Parks: Central –Quarterly report to subcouncil 15: 01 July to 30 September 2024 BE NOTED.
Cllr McKenzie mentioned where mowing has taken place there is not much collection of the cut grass. Cllr McKenzie asked who is responsible for mowing outside of a church premise for example. The sidewalk was on the road that was part of the mowing schedule. The contractor refused to cut the sidewalk and he would like to know where to direct the church to complain.

Ms. Lucas said that the can send the complaints to their office, and the mowing of sidewalks, residential properties, churches and schools is the responsibility of the property owner. The department sometimes assist when the situation becomes hazardous. Cllr McKenzie said that the City Map viewer shows the side that is listed as private property and also a side that is under Urban Mobility. That department do not do grass cutting. Ms. Lucas said that a memo was sent out regarding the City of Cape Town not cutting sidewalks and would forward the memo to the Subcouncil. She would also convey the concerns to her manager and revert back to the Subcouncil.

Ald Thompson asked who is responsible in making sure that the blue bags are picked up, to prevent the bags lying next to the road for days without collection.
Ms. Lucas said that she will make contact with Mr. Hamana who is the official dealing with the contractors that are doing the grass cutting in Subcouncil 15. There was unanimous agreement with the resolution.
