The application for the renewal of extended trading hours (off-consumption), Sunday trading from 11:00 to 18:00 submitted by Vasco Discount Liquors, 225 Voortrekker Road, Goodwood NOT BE APPROVED for the following reasons:

As listed in the Western Cape Liquor Act 34 (1) (e) (i) – the granting of the application does not prejudice the residents of a residential area due to anti-social behavior, loitering by homeless persons, public drinking and is not in the general interests of the public.

The establishment is furthermore near an educational institution namely the Uit-en-Tuis Crèche and the Seventh Day Adventist Church located nearby of 234 Voortrekker Road, Goodwood.

Objectors raised the following concerns:

Vagrants hanging around the business.
Public drinking
Loud noise, continues swearing and fighting outside their homes.
Defecating in the road.
Decay of the area.
