MOTION OF EXIGENCY: ESTABLISHMENT OF ZEEKOEVLEI CATCHMENT
FORUM (DATED 17 NOVEMBER 2022)

Mr F Monk reported that the inaugural meeting of Zeekoe Catchment Forum was held on 8 June 2024 at Athlone Waste Water Treatment Works.

RESOLVED

That a report on the inauguration be submitted to the Subcouncil at the next meeting.

That the item be REMOVED from the Matters Outstanding.

18SUB15/5/2023:

RECREATION & PARKS: STATUS REPORT ON OPERATIONAL CAPACITY OF
SWIMMING POOLS AND SPRAY PARK – 2023/24 – RETREAT SWIMMING POOL

Mr F Monk reported that he received no feedback on the matter, he went on a site visit and progress is slow, all old corroded pipes has been removed and will be replaced, the contractor are currently busy rebuilding the baby pool.

The Chairperson enquired whether the Department has given sufficient notice to the stakeholders with regard to shutdown of the facility during renovations. It appears that the project is not completed and should have been done by the end of June or July 2024. He requested and update, as it is important, because the Subcouncil is concerned about the stakeholders and one of the major issues were the heating of the pool and that most swimming clubs use the facility to train.

RESOLVED

The Department provide an update of the duration of the project and whether all stakeholders are being kept up to date in terms of progress.
