That based on the assessment conducted and having considered the CoCT’s Traffic Calming Policy, traffic calming NOT BE SUPPORTED for the reasons reflected below:
REASONS FOR NON-SUPPORT AS RECEIVED FROM TRANSPORT (Akhona Maseko)
-
Sandrivier Crescent is a Class 5 residential road located within a medium density gated complex in Durbanville.
-
Traffic calming measures should first and foremost be provided to protect the most vulnerable road users where they occur in the largest numbers, specifically in the vicinity of public facilities. The roads adjacent to and leading to schools should therefore be the primary focus of the traffic calming programme.
-
Our assessment indicated that there are no schools or any public amenities long Sandrivier Crescent that may attract significant volumes of vulnerable pedestrian activity directly into the road and therefore pedestrian/vehicle conflict can be considered low on this road.
