Resolution detail
RESOLVED that having considered the City of Cape Town Traffic Calming Policy and the recommendation from Transport Planning & Network Management Department;
-
Signal Hill Road is a Class 5 Local Street located within a medium-density residential area of Signal Hill.
-
Our assessment indicated that there are no public amenities such as schools, play parks etc. along Signal Hill Road to attract vulnerable or high concentrations of pedestrian activity across the study roadway.
-
The implementation of traffic calming measures along Signal Hill Road is not recommended as the site investigation revealed that Signal Hill Road has a steep gradient (±10).
-
Therefore, the potential for pedestrian/vehicle conflict along Signal Hill Road is considered low and non-compliant with Section 7(3) of the Traffic Calming Policy.
-
Given the above and considering the City of Cape Town Traffic Policy, regretfully traffic calming measures cannot currently be considered along the length of Signal Hill Road.
