Resolution detail

RESOLVED that having considered the City of Cape Town Traffic Calming Policy and the recommendation from Transport Planning & Network Management Department;
 

1. Kylemore Road is a Class 5 Local Street located within a medium-density residential area of Woodstock.

2. Our assessment indicated that there are no public amenities such as schools, play parks etc. along Kylemore Road to attract vulnerable or high concentrations of pedestrian activity through the study intersection.

3. Therefore, the potential for pedestrian/vehicle conflict along Kylemore Road is considered low and non-compliant with Section 7(3) of the Traffic Calming Policy.

4. Furthermore, traffic calming measures are designed to regulate traffic speeds to approximately 40km/h within the vicinity of the measure. Regardless of the vehicle speed, animals will still remain at risk, as their reactions are unpredictable.

5. Given the above and considering the City of Cape Town Traffic Policy, regretfully traffic calming measures cannot currently be considered along Kylemore Road.
