Cllr B Payiya said that at a last meeting for Moonwood project there were many suggestions made bearing in mind it was indicated there are funds available and would propose to have a meeting that will have all relevant role-players for these issues to be discussed and addressed accordingly.
X Joja indicated with the issue of Ramaphosa electrification, this is with Energy Department for Electricity and with regards to the City owned land, the letter needs to be provided for confirming that the land belongs to the City. The City looked at if the city owned portion needs to be electrified now, this will cause a problem with illegal connection because the portion that doesn’t have electricity would want to tap on those that is electrified.
Cllr N Makasi said the letter of purchase is available and the City should not wait on the process of purchasing another pocket of land before electrifying the one that already is owned by the City. She said that this will eliminate the illegal connections currently happening in Mxenge as now it is heavy for that area to carry, so the City should start looking at electrifying the houses that are situated in City owned land.
X Joja said that further engagement will need to be done with Climate Change Department to specifically deal with electrification of Ramaphosa. He then said that the issue of Sakhile is currently a top priority on the Department’s dashboard, there is a meeting arranged for next week to deal with Masilunge and Sakhile, the Ward Councillor is aware of the meeting and will then provide feedback to the Subcouncil afterwards.
X Joja said the issue of Moonwood, he requested a report from Lwazi Nobaza with the MAP but according to him, he did a site visit with the leadership of that area, apparently it was identified that the land identified was wetland and said more discussions around this process needs
