The Subcouncil Manager indicated that the Public Participation Unit held an intervention on 9 June 2023 by PPU. Mr A Louw added that the turnouts of residents was not much and another intervention will be held which would include a pamphlet drop.
Councillor J Solomon indicated that she posted the initiative to a few social platform groups via whatsapp and received favorable responses.
The Subcouncil Chairperson requested that in addition to the feedback received from Councillor J Solomon that the Subcouncil be furnished with the outcome of PPU’s interventions, in order for the matter to be concluded.

Cllr Joy Solomon indicated that the original proposed leash free dog park would need to move to another location on the dog ark considering the subjoined email and pending meeting with the West Riding Primary School principal.

Feedback received from Mr Andre A louw (PPU) via email communication on the 13 September 2023 indicated that
We will be doing a survey within the timeframe of the 22-25 September 2023 and the prescribed times will be from 10h00-15h00.
We still awaiting the map from line dept. as we need to add more to the survey form.

Mr A Louw was present and reported that they have experienced a few challenges when it comes to the public participation process. He also mentioned that he had spoken to the Councillor and that it was decided that Public Participation would take place in the first week of October 2023 to have it concluded by the next Subcouncil meeting.
Councillor Solomon said that she agrees with Mr Louw to have public participation and proper notification be given to residents thereof in order for community members to partake.
Meeting date: 19/10/2023
The Subcouncil Manager reported that the Public Participation Unit conducted the survey and public consultation in this regard. She indicated that the majority of responses was in favour of the establishment of a dog park. As per the outcome of the public consultation, the implementation of the dog park will be done in the 2024/25 financial year, funding allocated from the ward allocation budget.
Cllr Solomon thanked the department for the work done.
Cllr Bodin enquired about the five objections received and requested that those be responded to. The Chairperson added that a response is to be provided to the objections received for the establishment of the dog park and that it be circulated to the Subcouncil members as well.
It was agreed that the item be REMOVED.
