RESOLVED
 
That the outcome of the traffic calming assessments (listed below) received during the period July 2021 BE NOTED and the applicants be informed of the outcome of the traffic calming request with reference made to the budget constraints.
 
Ward 112 - Falcon Street, D’Urbanvale (TNDN3277)
  1. That terms of the CoCT Traffic Calming Policy it is recommended that a pedestrian crossing BE PAINTED along Falcon Street opposite the school’s entrance on top of the paved section of the road in order for the crossing to be more visible to the approaching vehicles.
 
  1. That the two existing raised pedestrian crossings along Mosselbankriver Road BE REPAINTED.
 
  1. That it be noted that that the relevant department (NMT) is still to comment on the sidewalk along Falcon Street.
 
 
Ward 103 - Oakwood Estate, Oakwood, Pinehurst (TNDN3340):
 
  1. That a site inspection BE SCHEDULED with the line department and ward councillor to, in accordance with City policies and guidelines, determine the best suited location for the placement of the proposed speed humps iro Huguenot Way and Jourdan Street (not Crescent).
 
  1. That the recommendation as reflected in the discussion above relating to:  Simond, Lombard and Cordier BE SUPPORTED.
 
  1. That the applicants BE INFORMED to submit additional applications for signage, pedestrian & cycle lanes and speed camera installations via the Subcouncil administration as these are managed via different line departments, delegations, legislation and budgets.
 
. Ward 21:  Bethanie & Legato Roads, Sonstraal (TNDN3332)
 
  1. That the request for speed humps along Legato Drive NOT BE SUPPORTED, but in the interest of safety, 2x Speed humps BE SUPPORTED along Bethanie road in the vicinity of the public open space (one between Hanepoot and Vygeboom and another one next to the public open space).
 
Ward 21 – Gillian Street, Eversdal (TNDN3101)
 
  1. That another site visit to Gillian Street, Eversdal BE CONDUCTED.
 
 
Ward 103 – Pinewood Crescent, Langeberg Ridge (TNDN3275): 
    
  1. That 1x Speed hump BE RECOMMENDED in Pine Wood Crescent in the vicinity of the play park (between Maritime Street and Robyn Road).
  2. That the No overtaking line (RM1) BE SUPPORTED, along the two bends at Pinewood Crescent, subject to implementation being dealt with on the line department’s budget.
 
 
Ward 112 – Tara Close, Durbanville (TNDN3342):                    .
 
  1. That  2x speed humps located along Tara Close in the vicinity of the play park BE SUPPORTED.  
 
  1. That in accordance with SARTSM and The National Road Traffic Act, No Overtaking (RM1) line BE SUPPORTED on the line department’s budget.
 
  1. That mirrors NOT BE SUPPORTED as they are costly and susceptible to vandalism, which leads to high maintenance cost.
