Activity Day Meeting – 6 October 2021
The item was not tabled but below is the discussion on 28 September 2021.
Solomzi reported that they were assisted by the internal design office and was on site last week with Terence Synders and will be preparing a report before end September 2021 and will let the Subcouncil see the concept designs. It will not cost a lot to implement the project as it can be done if there is any savings left of the 2020/21 financial year, otherwise funding will remain the underlying factor.
Cllr Peck responded that there is a lot of upgrading on the T2/N2 and will be resurfacing the whole road and putting in new kerb stones on the R102 and whether the City’s engineers could not liaise with Mr Hein Uys of Province to see if they cannot supply the City with the material and even if the City has to do the work itself as it is part of Province’s road as well.
Solomzi responded that they do have problems with Province where there is a memorandum of understanding in place and not always as easy as it seems as there is a lack of co-operation with Province. He is aware of that approach but would not attempt to do it as it is a long process and Province would have to motivate to SCM why are going beyond their scope of work.
RESOLVED
Cllr Peck stated that he would liaise with the MAYCO member and requesting R200 000 towards this project.
That the item REMAINS on the MRA’s.
