The Subcouncil Manager asked Mr. Siphuthuma of SASSA Gugulethu to take the meeting through the presentation.

Mr. Siphuthuma introduced the Acting Regional Manager Ms. Lonja who is responsible for Metro 2.

Cllr Zondani said that he would like to send a word of gratitude to Mr. Siphuthuma who gives full attention if you have issues or queries regarding the department. He said that the department cannot ask the councillors to assist them in getting spaces as there are some space that they can take it up with their department nationally and Ministers.

He also asked whether it is only at Gugulethu were they have issues of space because in some areas you will find SASSA offices are inside the malls. The issue off getting Community facilities to be given to the department that will also cause conflict within the community and might cause an increase in crime. He said that there is a gentleman at Koornorf street who has land and wanted to build a restaurant.

Cllr Yozi said that SASSA previously used Millers Camp hall but after one of their officials was mugged, the department left the facility. SASSA can make contact with the facility manager as some of the facilities have securities and local Neighbourhood watchers.

Ms. Lonja said that she will be in contact with Cllr Zondani regarding the available spaces and they do advertise for tender for people with vacant land and would like that person with land to apply to sell the land. She also mentioned that they have been using Community halls in our areas but the abolition is not clean and taken care of in the Cape Flats but when you go to Southern areas everything is in order hence they would like the councillors to intervene.

She also said, on the issue of online application that not everyone has capacity to use the system and also not all grant applications can be done via online channels.
