CONSIDERATION FOR THE REVIEW OF THE INFORMAL TRADING PLAN FOR GATESVILLE CENTRAL BUSINESS DISTRICT (CBD), WARD 46.
Ms Gogela informed the members that the purpose of the report is for Subcouncil 11 to consider and recommend to the Executive Mayor, that Council considers the adoption of the informal trading plan for Gatesville Central Business District (CBD) Ward 46. She said the report was submitted on 4 November 2020.
Cllr Cassiem said that he received many complaints from the Informal Traders e.g. minutes of meetings were not received and he needs time to go through the report and will revert back to Subcouncil.
Cllr Moses informed members that the report did not have the signature of the Legal Department.
Ms Gogela later presented the report signed by the Legal Department to Ald. Antonio van der Rheede.
The members agreed that AED, Line department officials, Cllr Cassiem and traders hold meeting and resolve questions of concern.
Ald. Antonio van der Rheede said that the report should serve at a special Subcouncil meeting in December 2020. AED to engage with the SC Manager on her return from study leave to set up the date. |
RESOLVED
The members recommended that the report be DEFERRED.
With regards to the COVID-19 Risk Mitigation strategy for Gatesville, that of moving traders from the pedestrian walk ways in front of shops to the parking area, the members resolved that due to the fact that the plan is part of a National directive to ensure that the City complies with the regulations of the Covid-19, the plan be supported by all the Councillors.
That AED considers closing the entire road during the market times to address concerns raised by Cllr Cassiem about possible accidents from customers crossing the road
