The Subcouncil Manager introduced the report on the Grants-in-Aid allocation: Humanitarian Food Relief indicating that two organisations expressed interest in offering food relief within the Subcouncil 14 area, that their applications cover four of the six wards. During the First Screening Process the Peninsula School Feeding Association and Ikamva Labantu Charitable Trust were found to be compliant.
Subcouncil 14 were then required to conduct a Second Screening Process and both are being recommended for approval.
Peninsula School Feeding Association and Ikamva Labantu Charitable Trust both have staff supporting kitchens within the community with training and quality control, both will deliver ingredients to the community kitchens on a bi-weekly basis. Both organisations has a programme approach where they do not prepare and distribute the meals, but they rather support community soup kitchens with ingredients, training and quality control.
