Activity Day Meeting 06 October 2021
The Chairperson stated that he had a number of engagements around this and at the moment he is working with the officials on this matter and happy to leave the item on the MRA and will deal with the item in the new term. He also gave background to the discussion and said that they had a look together with Mr von Moltke regarding the use of the property and the issue of the flood lines where you can’t build on it and the flood alleviation works are going to be resolved within the next 10 years which will be a long time. The community would like to utilize the space by fencing it off, to have a dog walking park, to have indigenous plants, food garden and revamp the building so that it can be used for various purposes for the benefit of the community. Once all in place then the idea is to approach Property Management as to what they trying to do but one of the problems is that Property Department who is the custodian of the building who in itself does not manage the building and then a vehicle have to be created possibly via a joint venture between the City and the residents or an association to establish a management document. It will also be an unsolicited bid and then the City would be advertising the property as well.
RESOLVED
That the item REMAINS on the MRA’s.
