Resolution detail

The Subcouncil Manager introduced the Public Participation for the Draft Inclusive Economic Growth Strategy and asked the official to take the meeting through the report.

Cllr Zondani said that the review strategy since 2013 and that has not made any impact in the communities and COVID-19 showed that. He also said that informal sector did not benefit anything and they have been promised that they will revamp meat stalls in Nyanga and Khikhi area and nothing has been done they were only given hand sanitizers and nothing else.

Ms Levy said that she will take the matter further and the councillors can table the issues with the Portfolio Committee chairpersons.

Mr. Daniels said that the sub council can make a request with the department were they can take the councillors and members of the public their new strategy on assisting the communities.

Cllr Makasi also said that the official of the department should also be in that workshop and be able to answer all the questions also include Ward committee members in that intervention.

Cllr Zondani said that it is unfair for officials to come to the Sub council meeting without answers and when questions arise they say the will take the matter further with an official who is not part of the meeting.

Cllr Ngxumza said that it seems as if the departments submit reports and the person with all the answers they will say that the relevant person is not available.

Cllr Makasi said that the departments are aware of Sub council meetings and they have to make time and prioritize each meeting and the author of the report should be in the meeting or send someone who will be able to answer some questions. She also said that the author of the report should be invited in the workshop and would like the Sub council manager to take the matter further.

Cllr Manata noted the report supported by Cllr Ngxumza.

There was unanimous agreement with the resolution.

Workshop need to be arranged with Ward committees and the author of the report.
