Resolution detail

The Subcouncil Manager introduced the report on the Draft Revised Parking Policy for Public Comment the official to take the meeting through the report.

Cllr Yozi said that on Pg.187 their fee is expensive and would like to know if they can reduce the rates for parking bays. He also asked if there are sites that are earmarked for public parking space and if they have can they send the information to the Subcouncil manager

Ms. Sassman said that people can use the MyCiti bus or public transport. She also said that there is public space in the CBD where people do park and they do not have any available parking spaces at the moment.

Cllr Zondani said that the department in their planning and strategy they do not cater for people living with disabilities. He also said that in their advertisement or reports they do not accommodate people living with disabilities and out of all the parking bays in the City of Cape Town only a few parking bays are allocated for them and people with abled bodies tend to park in those bays.

He also said that people living with disabilities never made payments for parking bays and he would like know why are they paying for those. They need to park for free.

Ms. Sassman said that she will take the matter and make sure that the new parking bay policy will include parking bays for the disabled.

There was unanimous agreement with the resolution.
