RESOLVED
That it BE NOTED that the following assessment were undertaken by the Network Development: TDA Cape Town in terms of the City of Cape Town’s Traffic Calming Policy and the outcome thereof is as follows:
Ward 11
Opstal Street, Kuilsriver
Given the above and having considered the CoCT’s Traffic Calming Policy, we recommend the implementation of 2 speed humps along Opstal Street in the vicinity of the open space with pedestrian desire lines.
Mitchell Street, Kuilsriver
Regrettably traffic calming cannot be considered along the length of Mitchell Street. However, we recommend the implementation of two advance sharp curve warning signs (W204 and W205) to indicate the horizontal curves.
Sive Street, Kuilsriver
It is recommended that one (1) speed hump be implemented along Murray Street, west of Sive Street and one (1) speed hump along Sive Street between Murray Street and Gerryts Street.
Davis Street, Kuilsriver
We regretfully cannot justify the implementation of and additional traffic calming measures along Davis Street.
Mossie Street, Kuilsriver
Regrettably, traffic calming cannot be considered along the length of Mossie Street. However, we recommend the implementation of an advance sharp curve warning sign as shown in the attached layout.
Ward 19
Driebergen Road, Highbury
The re-assessment of traffic calming measures and addition to the existing speed humps along Driebergen Road, Highbury was assed about 4 years ago. The investigation concluded that all the correct traffic-engineering measures are in place along Driebergen Street and that no further measures are required. There haven’t been any developments to the road network since this time, we therefore maintain the finding as stated in the investigation memo that states: “Given the above and having considered the CoCT’s Traffic Calming Policy, site inspection reveals that all the correct traffic- engineering measures are in place along Driebergen Street and that no further measures are required.”
Excelsior Street, Kuilsriver
We recommend the implementation of four speed humps, strategically placed along Excelsior Street in the vicinity of the amenities.
