Mr Xolile Fula was present to address the item.
Mr Fula highlighted that the major issue facing the delivery of services are the way communities are being communicated with, besides the availability of funding.
Councillor Bele elaborated that it is the responsibility of the Councillors to bridge the gap between the City of Cape Town and the community.
A short discussion with regard to the recent protests over the appointment of community based suppliers at the Old Flats in Langa took place.
Councillor Sulelo suggested that a meeting with the Councillors, Human Settlements, Solid Waste, Subcouncil, the Committee of the Old Flats, Supply Chain Management and the Community-based Suppliers be arranged to discuss and explain the roles, responsibilities and consequences of all parties.
The Chairperson agreed that his office will arrange the meeting, but that Councillor Sakathi will be coordinates the process.
It was RESOLVED that
the Chairperson’s Office ARRANGE a meeting with the relevant stakeholders to explain the roles, responsibilities and consequences with regard to the current service delivery at the Old Flats in Langa;
the item BE REMOVED from the Matters Receiving Attention Schedule;
report: refuse collection at Langa Zones – Hostels and Zone Flats BE NOTED
