Ms Moosa informed the members that the report provides overview of the Library activities of The Library and information services Department (LIS) for the period 1 October 2018 to 30 December 2018 Cllr Moses • City to review unfunded mandate of Libraries as it is negatively affecting service delivery. • The City’s, Protocol agreement should factor funding from Province as its primary mandate to upgrade the Libraries. • He informed the members that he has been using ward allocation funding for the last 7 years to fund upgrading projects at Heideveld Library. • Air conditioners still vandalized not fixed as yet. • Land to be reserved for extension of Heideveld Library, area is growing very fast with the new housing developments in the area. • Ms Moosa informed members that land reservation report to serve at next Subcouncil meeting. Air conditioner to be installed end March 2019. Cllr Antonio van Rheede asked the official if Library Service is engaging youth to entice them to partner with LIS and get community reading and deal with numeracy. RESOLVED The Subcouncil members NOTED the information and requested that the report for the reservation of land for Heideveld Library be submitted to March Subcouncil meeting. . .
