Resolution detail
Cllr Simon Liell-Cock introduced this item on behalf of Cllr Aimee Kuhl.
Cllr Kuhl submitted a motion requesting a formal process to address the concerns regarding the bathing boxes at Muizenberg.
The concerns were as follows:
1.Bathing boxes were part of our heritage and would remain part of Muizenberg beach, St James and Fish Hoek.
2.The current status and problems of these boxes are unacceptable.
3.Timelines should be allocated to address the issues of the boxes, in the long term.
4.The Boxes must add public value, be functional, well maintained and offer value and be financially self-sustaining.
5.Officials need to be tasked to develop a plan which includes engaging with stakeholders, final numbers and configuration of boxes as well as management, use, standards etc.
The Subcouncil AGREED that the motion be considered.
RESOLVED to RECOMMEND that the Coastal Management Department present a draft plan to Subcouncil 19 by 1st November 2017 for comment and input.
