RESOLVED
That the application for a consent use to permit a free standing telecommunication base station on Erf 22968, Goodwood, BE REFUSED in terms of Section 98 (c) of the Municipal Planning By-law, 2015, subject to conditions stipulated in Annexure A.
REASONS FOR DECISION:
The MPT REFUSED the application for the following reasons
1. The application does not conform to the Telecommunication Mast Infrastructure Policy in respect of co-location, visual impact and alternative sites.
2. The proposal would have a material negative impact on the residential character of the area given the current location
3. The construction of cellular communication base station and a 21m high dome type mast is likely to have a negative impact on the surrounding property owners or community in terms of visual intrusion.
4. A rooftop base station solution would be more appropriate on this site.
