RESOLVED UNANIMOUSLY
That the application for a temporary departure, to permit Erf 3303 Hout Bay to be used for a lumber yard, BE APPROVED, in terms of Section 98 (b) of the Municipal Planning By-Law, 2015, subject to conditions contained in Annexure A.
Condition 2.14 is amended as follows:
2.1.4 The hours of operation of the lumberyard (i.e. cutting and sawing of wood and use of machinery or wood working equipment) shall be limited to 09h00 – 17h00 Monday to Friday. Other than the sale of fire wood, It shall not operate on weekends or public holidays.
REASONS FOR DECISION:
The MPT APPROVED the application for the reasons set out in the Planner’s report, except reason 7.1, 7.5 and added an additional reason 7.11
7.1. The proposal has been operating on the site for some time and will not impact on the character of the area.
7.5. The residential appearance of the property from Valley Road will not be affected and a residential component will be retained.
7.11 The proposal is compatible with the surrounding context.
