REASONS FOR DECISION
The MPT APPROVED the application for the reasons set out in the Planner’s Report and agreed to amend reason 7.1.8 as follows:

7.1.8 The introduction of hotel accommodation with rental pool service departments and supplemental uses to this area will have a positive impact on the surrounding area

Add new reason as follows:
7.1.13 Due consideration has been given to the development principles contained in Section 7 of SPLUMA (Act No. 16 of 2013). In this regard, the proposal justifiably transforms the use and spatial configuration of the land to achieve socio-economic benefit to the broader community, as well as providing infrastructural improvements and enhanced pedestrianization in this locality adjacent to the convention centre

Amend Annexure A:
Add a note as follows:
NOTE: The existing Metropolitan building with windows fronting onto the abutting property, that the owner/developer be encouraged to consult with the owners of Metropolitan prior to building plans submission
