| Swartklip Refuse Transfer Station (SRTS) | Swartklip Refuse Transfer Station (SRTS) | <p>Where distances to landfill for internal and external refuse collection service providers are too far to travel, they may make use of a transfer station to offload waste. The waste is then compacted into containers and transferred via rail or road to a landfill site.</p><p>The general waste from Mitchells Plain and Khayelitsha is taken to the Swartklip facility for compaction into bulk containers.
