St James Beach

St James Beach is famous for its colourful collection of bathing boxes set alongside its tidal pool. The tidal pool, which backs onto a sandy beach, offers a safe swimming spot and is popular with families. The beach is relatively sheltered from the southeaster and is accessed via a subway beneath the railway line. Although this beach is considered safe for swimming, it is recommended that beach goers only swim where and when a lifeguard is on duty.A walkway along the sea wall allows for pleasant seaside strolls. Local surfers can often be seen riding the reef break here, known as ‘Off the Wall in False Bay’.
