Bakoven BeachBakoven Beach
Bakoven is a tiny suburb on the edge of Camps Bay. Bakoven Beach is just a small strip of sand between a jumble of giant granite boulders, some of which are reminiscent of Dutch ovens, hence the suburb’s name. Although small, the beach is home to the National Sea Rescue Institute’s (NSRI) oldest station, established in 1967.

The boulders provide shelter from the wind for sunbathers seeking a quiet spot away from the Camps Bay crowds. It also offers a good vantage point from which to watch the sunset. Behind the beach is a maze of narrow lanes winding between the closely spaced bungalows, creating a cosy village atmosphere. Together with the bungalows at Clifton and Glen Beach, Bakoven Beach has been declared a heritage area.

Booking queries

Telephone:
021 400 3647 / 021 400 3823

Please also see the Recreation and Parks Facility Tariffs Booklet in the document download section below for more information about bookings and tariffs.

General enquiries

Telephone:
021 439 4332

District office

Telephone:
021 444 0421
GP0|#6fb82646-b411-48e6-b0d4-52898add42c8;L0|#06fb82646-b411-48e6-b0d4-52898add42c8|Parking;GTSet|#4be4596d-cdfe-41f7-a569-9d9c4e16c716;GP0|#733a73cd-eff6-456e-b1a7-1e652ba5608d;L0|#0733a73cd-eff6-456e-b1a7-1e652ba5608d|NSRI station;GP0|#b1b8ebb5-98fd-44d8-8d5f-fc9433daab5e;L0|#0b1b8ebb5-98fd-44d8-8d5f-fc9433daab5e|Toilets

Victoria Road, Bakoven
