Request a refund<span> <h2 class="sectHeading">​​​​​​​​​​About</h2></span> <p>If you have overpaid your municipal account, or your account is in credit due to credit adjustments or payments made on incorrect accounts, you can request a refund. </p><p>Your refund application should take approximately <strong>21 working days </strong>to verify and process, provided that you submit all the <a href="https://resource.capetown.gov.za/documentcentre/Documents/Procedures%2c%20guidelines%20and%20regulations/Refund_Application_Guidelines.pdf" target="_blank">required supporting documents</a>. </p> <span> <h2 class="sectHeading">​​​​​​​​​​How to apply</h2></span> <ul><li>Complete and sign the <a href="https://resource.capetown.gov.za/documentcentre/Documents/Forms%2c%20notices%2c%20tariffs%20and%20lists/Refund%20Application%20Form.pdf" target="_blank">Request for Refund application form</a><br></li><li>Make sure you inlude the applicable supporting documents in your application - see our <a href="https://resource.capetown.gov.za/documentcentre/Documents/Procedures%2c%20guidelines%20and%20regulations/Refund_Application_Guidelines.pdf" target="_blank">Request for Refund Guidelines</a> <br></li><li>Email the application form and supporting documents to <em></em> <a href="mailto:supportingdocs.crm@capetown.gov.za"> <em>supportingdocs.crm@capetown.gov.za</em></a> or you can visit any of our <a href="https://www.capetown.gov.za/Explore%20and%20enjoy/See-all-City-facilities/Our-service-facilities/Walk-in%20centres">Walk-in Centres</a> to submit.</li></ul> <span> <div class="lrg-icon-content bordered"><div class="lrg-icon lrg-check"><p> <b>​​​​​​Remember</b></p><ul><li>Refunds are subject to the City's <a href="https://resource.capetown.gov.za/documentcentre/Documents/Bylaws%20and%20policies/Credit%20Control%20and%20Debt%20Collection%20Policy.pdf" target="_blank">Credit Control and Debt Collection Policy</a>. ​</li><li>Refunds will not be made to any person or company in arrears with their municipal account. The amount will be offset against any arrears.</li><li>If two or more people are account holders, refunds will not be made if any of them are in arrears with other municipal property accounts.
