The City is committed to rooting out all instances of corruption by City officials. If you have experienced corruption or abuse of office, and would like to report it, you can follow the guide below.

How to report corruption, fraud or abuse of office

 

Please note

You can lodge a complaint if you do not feel like your request was dealt with satisfactorily.

The City of Cape Town has a dedicated anti-corruption hotline that all residents are encouraged to use if they know of, or experience, any City officials who are abusing the power of their position.

Corruption includes any number of illegal activities, including:

  • fraud
  • fuel theft
  • misuse of funds
  • nepotism (favouring relatives or friends, by giving them jobs, etc.)

If you know of instances of abuse or corruption, then you can report it to us.

Please include in your report:

  • as much detail of the incident as possible
  • the individuals and officials involved in the incident
  • the time and date when the incident occurred
