Register for paperless bills
The City of Cape Town is going paperless to reduce the risk of accounts going missing or being delivered late by the South African postal service. Going paperless also reduces the financial and environmental cost associated with printing bills on paper.

How to register
Register for paperless billing by 31 December 2025.
To make it as easy as possible for our commercial and residential customers, all you need to do is send an email or SMS with your email address and account number to register for emailed accounts.
After 31 December 2025, all accounts will be emailed.
Account holders without email addresses are advised to call the City’s Call Centre on
0860 103 089.
Account holders may also register online via e-Services to receive their municipal accounts via email. Follow the steps below to find out how.

Register online as an individual
Step 1: Visit the
Emailing of Accounts Portal.
Step 2: Follow the instruction wizard and fill in all your information.
You will need the following:
- your ID or passport number
- a copy of your ID or passport to upload
- your business partner number (found on the top right hand side of your municipal account statement)
- a valid email address
Step 3: Once you have registered, you will receive your municipal bills via email.
Register online as a company or organisation
Step 1: Visit the
Emailing of Accounts Portal.
Step 2: Follow the instruction wizard and fill in all your information.
You will need the following:
- a letter from your company or organisation indicating that the company representative is authorised to request that invoices be emailed
- a copy of the company representative’s identity document
- a business partner number (found on the top right hand side of your municipal account statement)
- a valid email address
Step 3: Once you have registered, you will receive your municipal bills via email.

Step 1: Log into
e-Services and click on the 'Municipal accounts' tab at the top of the screen

Step 2: Click on 'eBilling'

Step 3: Make sure that you have 'email' listed as your medium, then click on 'Change Email' to change your email address.
SMS OPTION
You can sms your account number and email address to
31223 to receive your municipal account via email every month.
