Submit nominations for the Neighbourhood Watch Awards 2022<h2 class="sectHeading">​​​About the awards</h2><p>Every year, the City honours accredited NW volunteers and who have gone above and beyond the call of duty and provided exceptional services to their community.</p><p> <strong>You can submit your nominations for the 2022 Neighbourhood Watch Awards from Monday, 22 August until Thursday, 6 October 2022. </strong></p><h2 class="sectHeading">​​​​​​​​​​Award categories </h2><p>​​​​​​​You can nominate an individual member or an entire NW team. You can also nominate the same person or team for more than one award category, but you will need to submit individual nominations for each of them.</p><h4>Award categories for individual members:<br></h4><ul><li> <strong>NW Member of the Year:</strong> a member who upholds, with outstanding achievement, the purpose of safeguarding its members and property.</li><li> <strong>Organisational Excellence:</strong> for excellence in NW management.</li><li> <strong>Mobiliser of the Year:</strong> for exceptional efforts to mobilise communities in support of safety.</li><li> <strong>Inspiration of the Year:</strong> a NW leader who has displayed inspirational public leadership, across several NW areas, in support of community safety and the greater public good.</li><li> <strong>Crime Fighter of the Year:</strong> for exceptional, selfless, professional and committed service, in the fight against crime.</li><li> <strong>Courage in Action:</strong> in recognition of sustained NW operations in the face of highly compromised community safety, like drug activity or gang violence.</li></ul><h4>Award categories for NW teams:<br></h4><ul><li> <strong>NW Group of the Year:</strong> an organisation that upholds, with outstanding achievement, the purpose of safeguarding its members and property against crime and other safety concerns.</li><li> <strong>Situational Crime Prevention Award:</strong> in recognition of exceptional efforts towards a clean, healthy and safe environment, in which communities can lead dignified lives. </li><li> <strong>Social Responsibility Award:</strong> in recognition of a deep commitment to addressing mitigating and healing social ills, towards healthier, inclusive and united communities. </li><li> <strong>Courage in Action Group Award:</strong> in recognition of sustained NW operations in the face of highly compromised community safety.</li></ul><h2 class="sectHeading">How to nominate</h2> <span> <div class="notification with-heading dark-copy pink bg-light-grey"><div class="graphic with-border"> <i class="info note">​​​</i> </div><div class="desc"><h4>Please note</h4><p> You can only nominate NW members or teams that are accredited with the Western Cape Government Department of Community Safety, or who have formally submitted their application for accreditation. Combine the evidence into <strong>one document, maximum 10 MB.</strong> This can include:</p><ul><li>Signed and dated affidavits and/or letters of support - from individuals in the community, religious organisations, South African Police Service (SAPS) station commanders or a head teacher from the local school.</li><li>Testimonials from residents in the local area as well as other members of a NW team.</li><li>Letter from your ward councillor highlighting the achievements or work done by the NW or an individual member. </li><li>Newspaper clippings – take a picture of the coverage.</li><li>Social media reviews and comments: copy and paste, or take a screenshot of positive comments from Facebook and Twitter.</li></ul><p> <strong>Submit your form by Thursday, 6</strong><font class="ms-rteThemeForeColor-2-0"><strong> October 2022</strong></font><strong>.
