<p>The proposal to rename the park arises from the tragic and senseless shooting of seven-year-old Emaan Oosthuizen from Ocean View, who was killed while playing in the street adjacent to the park. </p><p> Emaan’s death profoundly impacted the community, highlighting the urgent need to restore safety and accessibility to the park, previously dominated by gangs and deemed unsafe for children and families. </p><p>Renaming the park to Emaan Oosthuizen Memorial Park would serve as a lasting tribute to her memory and the innocent life lost.
