Register to participate in the Strand Local Spatial Development Framework process<span> <h2 class="sectHeading">​​​​​​​​​​About​​​​​​​</h2></span> <p>​The Strand Local Spatial Development Framework is an intervention, which aims to revitalise Strand and make it a place where people want to live and invest long-term. This initiative comes as a response to a growing desire among residents and business owners to see Strand reach its full potential. </p><p>It should be noted that the Strand Business Improvement District (SBID) and the Future Strand initiative are spearheading this journey. The Future Strand strategy and action plan forms the baseline for the Strand LSDF. </p> <span> <div class="notification with-heading dark-copy light-blue bg-light-grey"><div class="graphic with-border"> <i class="info fastfact">​​</i></div><div class="desc"><h4>What is the sbid?</h4><p> Strand Business Improvement District (SBID) is an urban management initiative supported by the City of Cape Town to keep Strand clean and safe. Our security officials and cleaning teams ensure that this beautiful seaside town remains a pleasant area to do business.</p></div></div></span> <h4> The Strand LSDF aims to:</h4><ul><li>guide spatial development and land use management decisions within a designated local area;</li><li>inform public and private investment initiatives by clearly indicating the City’s future development vision; </li><li>formulate a vision for the desired end state of the area (how we would like it to be); </li><li>provide policies and guidelines for decision making and actions to achieve the desired end state; </li><li>develop and promote the tourism industry as a key driver to stimulate sustainable economic growth; </li><li>promote regional strategies, partnerships, and solutions to strengthen the local economy; and </li><li>promote the area as a high quality tourist destination where different functions co-exist.</li></ul> <span> <div class="notification with-heading dark-copy pink bg-light-grey"><div class="graphic with-border"> <i class="info note">​​​</i> </div><div class="desc"><h4>Please note</h4><p>LSDFs do not replace the existing legal requirements for land use planning and environmental regulations, and only become effective once approved by Council.</p></div></div></span> <h2 class="sectHeading">​​​​​​​​​​Public meetings</h2><p>We will present this initiative to the public, during a consultation and engagement session, where it will be discussed in depth.
