Comment on the proposed traffic circle in KhayelitshaComment on the proposed traffic circle in Khayelitsha<img alt="" src="https://resource.capetown.gov.za/cityassets/PublishingImages/CityConnectHeader.png" style="BORDER:0px solid;" /><div class="ExternalClassF49FECD70AF044F58910CD760CBE371D"><p>The City <a href="https://www.capetown.gov.za/Departments/Urban%20Mobility">Urban Mobility Directorate </a>plans to convert the existing intersection on Japhta K Masemola Road into a double lane traffic circle, and we want to hear from you.</p></div><span> <h2 class="sectHeading">​​​​​​​​​​About</h2></span> <p>We plan to convert the existing, unsignalised intersection at the entrance to the Oliver Tambo Community Hall on Japhta K Masemola Road into a double lane traffic circle. </p><p> <a href="https://www.myciti.org.za/en/phase2a/" target="_blank">Phase 2A<i class="icon link-external"></i></a> MyCiTi infrastructure will allow for improved public transport services linking Khayelitsha and Mitchells Plain with Wynberg and Claremont via Govan Mbeki Road. </p><p>The proposed traffic circle will improve safety and access, reduce traffic speed, and enable U-turns required to optimise MyCiTi services to Claremont and Wynberg. </p><p>In terms of Section 17 of the Local Government: Municipal Systems Act, Act 32 of 2000, you can submit comments to the municipality in respect of the proposal. </p><p>Objections will be considered before a final decision is reached. </p> <span> <h2 class="sectHeading">​​​​​​​​​​Comment period</h2></span> <p>Submit your comments from <strong>23 January – 23 February 2026</strong>. </p> <span> <h2 class="sectHeading">Submit your comment</h2></span> <p>Comments may be submitted via the following channels:</p><p> <strong>Online </strong> <br><a href="https://web1.capetown.gov.za/web1/websitefeedback/?id=ad51704f-5a7e-45d8-925c-c1253a4418a4" target="_blank">Submit your comments online</a>.</p><p><strong>Email </strong><br>Email your comments to <em> <a href="mailto:MyCiTi.News@capetown.gov.za?subject=Proposed traffic circle in Khayelitsha">MyCiTi.News@capetown.gov.za</a></em>. </p><p> <strong>Delivery </strong> <br>Deliver your written comments by hand to the following address during office hours (Monday – Friday, 08:00 – 15:00):</p><p> <em>Subcouncil 9<br>Site B <br> Khayelitsha Shopping Centre <br>Khayelitsha </em></p> <span> <div class="notification with-heading dark-copy pink bg-light-grey"><div class="graphic with-border"> <i class="info note">​​​</i> </div><div class="desc"><h4>Please note</h4><p>Our Public Participation Unit will assist you if you would like to submit comments but have a disability or are unable to read or write.
