Comment on the proposed pedestrian bridge at Sesame Station, Lentegeur
About

After a feasibility study was undertaken to determine the most unsafe rail crossing ‘hot spots’ in Cape Town, we have concluded that an over-rail bridge at Sesame Station in Lentegeur, Mitchells Plain would be of significant benefit to the surrounding community.

The bridge would create a safer over-rail crossing point for residents, as well as safer access to nearby public amenities, including the future MyCiTi bus stop, which will be located on AZ Berman Drive, north of Sesame Street.

We aim to construct the new pedestrian bridge on City-owned land, either side of the railway line. Good lighting, which is discretely angled away from residential properties, will be included in the design to ensure high visibility when approaching and using the bridge.

In terms of Section 17 of the Local Government: Municipal Systems Act, Act 32 of 2000, you can submit comments to the municipality.

Access the draft plan.

Comment period

Comments and objections may be submitted from 29 March – 29 April 2021.

Open day

We invite members of the public and interested and affected parties to view the proposed pedestrian bridge design and submit their comments at the following open day:

Date

Wednesday, 7 April 2021

Time:

14:00 – 18:00

Venue(s)

Lentegeur council chambers
Cnr Melkbos and Merrydale roads, Lentegeur

Northwood Community Hall, Woodlands

Submit your comment

Comments, inputs or recommendations may be submitted via the following channels:

Online
Submit your comments online.

Delivery
Deliver your written comments by hand to:

Subcouncil 23 offices
Lentegeur administrative building
Cnr Melkbos and Merrydale Roads
Lentegeur

Contact us

Telephone:
0800 65 64 63 (free from a cellphone)

Public Participation Unit

Anathi Dywili

Telephone:
021 400 9809

Email:
anathi.dywili@capetown.gov.za
GP0|#cc1f7b28-f43b-45ab-a0f2-08b4fefef7ed;L0|#0cc1f7b28-f43b-45ab-a0f2-08b4fefef7ed|Issues open for public comment;GTSet|#a7cfb90d-44ad-4426-98ce-565f79932396;GPP|#79e6adda-2aa2-4523-bc29-296828216c9329 March – 29 April 20210
