<h2 class="sectHeading">About</h2></span>
<p>Khayelitsha Wetlands Park (KWP) is one of 15 regional parks in Cape Town, as identified in the Community Services and Health Infrastructure Plan. </p><p> The facility serves a community that is under-resourced and it faces significant challenges, including:</p><ul><li>vandalism, </li><li> land invasions, and </li><li> complex community dynamics. </li></ul><p>Despite these challenges, KWP remains a well-utilised and valuable recreational space that provides play areas, an outdoor gym, a netball court, a five-a-side football court and picnic areas. </p><p> The wetland is also an important natural resource that allows the community to engage with nature through activities like canoeing. Given the current state of the Park and importance to the local population, we are prioritising it for intervention through the Recreation and Parks Department Regional Parks Programme. </p><p>In terms of section 17 of the Local Government: Municipal Systems Act, Act 32 of 2000, you can submit comments and recommendations to the municipality in respect of the management and sustainability of KWP.</p><h4>We want your input on the following:</h4><ul><li>Key issues and concerns about the park from your own experience. </li><li>Your vision for the future of the park </li><li> How you think the City can work with the community to improve the park </li><li>Any other comments and suggestions you may have regarding the park.</li></ul><p><a href="https://resource.capetown.gov.za/documentcentre/Documents/Forms%2c%20notices%2c%20tariffs%20and%20lists/KWRP_Information_Statement.pdf" target="_blank">Access the information statement</a>.</p><h2 class="sectHeading">Comment period</h2><p>Submit your comments from
