Comment on the draft informal trading plan for Ward 70<span> <h2 class="sectHeading">​​​​​​​​​​About​​​​​​​</h2></span> <p>We manage informal trading in Cape Town. </p><p>The <a href="http://resource.capetown.gov.za/documentcentre/Documents/Bylaws%20and%20policies/Informal%20Trading%20By-law.pdf" target="_blank">Informal Trading By-law </a>assists us to declare an informal trading plan for any place or area within our control. The plan identifies dedicated, restricted or prohibited areas for informal trading in that place or area. </p><p>We do not currently have an informal trading plan for Ward 70, including Kenridge, Welgemoed and Tyger Valley. </p><p>Due to a rising demand for opportunities in this area, our Area Economic Development Department, in consultation with <a href="https://www.capetown.gov.za/Local%20and%20communities/Meet-the-City/City-Council/subcouncils/subcouncil-profile?SubCouncilCode=3">Subcouncil 3</a>, has decided that an informal trading plan must be promulgated to meet this need. </p><p>Approval from Council is required as part of the process before any area can be defined as an informal trading plan area. </p><p>In terms of section 17 of the Local Government: Municipal Systems Act, Act 32 of 2000, you can submit comments to the municipality in respect of the draft informal trading plan for Ward 70. </p><p> <a href="https://resource.capetown.gov.za/documentcentre/Documents/City%20strategies%2c%20plans%20and%20frameworks/Ward70_Draft_Informal_Trading_Plan.pdf" target="_blank">Access the Draft Informal Trading Plan</a>. ​</p><h2 class="sectHeading">​​​​​​​​​​Comment period​​​​​​​</h2><div class="notification with-heading dark-copy pink bg-light-grey"><div class="graphic with-border"> <i class="info note">​​​</i> </div><div class="desc"><h4>Please note</h4><p>The comment period closed on 11 June 2021.
