You are now invited to submit final comments on the updated documents - specifically the proposals and maps.<br></p></div> | <h2 class="sectHeading">About the draft LSDF</h2><p>The first public engagement process for the draft Cape Town CBD LSDF took place in September/October 2024. This is the second public engagement process, which includes a revised version of the Sept/Oct 2024 LSDF proposals and development guidelines.</p><h4>The draft LSDF aims to:</h4><ul><li>Guide future spatial planning and development of the Cape Town Central Business District (CBD) - one of Cape Town’s economic hubs.</li><li>Optimise development approaches that are sensitive to the future growth of Cape Town and the existing heritage of the area, while maintaining its international destination status.</li></ul><h4>The revised draft version includes:</h4><ul><li>A more comprehensive Implementation Framework, which covers all envisaged interventions for the CBD and incorporates findings from the Mobility and Access Plan (a parallel planning process).</li><li>Comprehensive and informed development guidelines workshopped with various stakeholders.</li></ul><h4>The main spatial ideas of the draft LSDF include:</h4><ul><li>A public realm, which links Table Mountain to the sea and west-to-east parts of the CBD.</li><li>Multi-directional mobility and accessibility at a range of scales, across modes.</li><li>A CBD that prioritises walking, cycling (non-motorised transport) and social and economic activity.</li><li>Supporting the growth of a hierarchy of interconnected civic, social, cultural and entertainment nodes.</li><li>A series of enabling social and economic development opportunities within the horizon of the LSDF.</li><li>Retracing, restoring, optimising and celebrating historical routes through creating new places of memory.</li></ul><div class="notification with-heading dark-copy pink bg-light-grey"><div class="graphic with-border">
