Comment on the review of the City's District Spatial Development and Environmental Management Frameworks<span> <h2 class="sectHeading">About</h2></span> <p>District SDFs and EMFs set the planning and spatial vision for the City’s <a href="https://www.capetown.gov.za/work%20and%20business/planning-portal/Spatial-Plans-and-Frameworks/district-plans">eight planning districts</a>, namely: Table Bay; Blaauwberg; Southern; Northern; Cape Flats; Helderberg; Tygerberg; Mitchells Plain, Khayelitsha and Greater Blue Downs. </p><p>The draft DSDFs and EMFs seek to apply the development requirements of the <a href="https://www.capetown.gov.za/work%20and%20business/planning-portal/regulations-and-legislations/cape-town-spatial-development-framework">Cape Town Municipal Spatial Development Framework</a> at a district and sub-district scale. </p><h4>An integrated District SDF and EMF is an important planning document, because it:</h4><ul><li>Translates the City's <a href="https://www.capetown.gov.za/Family%20and%20home/Meet-the-City/our-vision-for-the-city/the-citys-idp-2017-2022">Integrated Development Plan (IDP) </a>and strategic priorities to specific geographic areas; </li><li>Provides certainty to developers, communities and city directorates; </li><li>Enables land-use decision-making; </li><li>Creates value for property owners; </li><li>Enables spatial transformation in a managed and coordinated manner; and </li><li>Creates opportunities for development.</li></ul><p>In 2019, we invited you to comment on the district SDF baseline and analysis reports (BaAR)​.
