Local Spatial Development Framework (LSDF) for Bellville CBD in December 2023, which aims to guide the regeneration of the Bellville CBD as the City’s second metropolitan node.

A Public Realm Strategy was also developed to guide short-term initiatives aimed at enhancing safe pedestrian experiences and contributing to the long-term development goals outlined in the LSDF.

In line with the LSDF and the Public Realm Strategy, we intend to transform a portion of South Street into a quality public environment that will provide a space for informal trading and access for pedestrians to move through and pause within the space.

To achieve this, we are proposing the closure of a portion of South Street to general traffic, which will allow full pedestrianisation, and potentially only allow deliveries in a controlled environment.
