Development over the past 25 years has not resulted in the development vision of the Blaauwberg Road Management Strategy, 1998. The corridor, as it is, is underdeveloped for its scale and potential, and presents an opportunity for urban regeneration.

Access a map of the study area.

Given the current and expected potential growth, we need to review the local area guidance in the Council-approved strategy.

The review of the Blaauwberg Road Growth Management Strategy will:

assess how past development has conformed to the Strategy;

identify reasons for why the 1998 Strategy’s vision has not materialised;

identify successful aspects of the Strategy

result in a local spatial development framework (LSDF) for the Blaauwberg Road corridor.

LSDFs aim to:

guide spatial development and land use management decisions within a designated local area;

inform public and private investment initiatives by clearly indicating the City’s future development vision;

formulate a vision for the desired end state of the area (how we would like it to be);

provide policies and guidelines for decision making and actions to achieve the desired end state;

promote regional strategies, partnerships, and solutions to strengthen the local economy; and

promote the area as a high quality tourist destination where different functions co-exist.

Please note

LSDFs do not replace the existing legal requirements for land use planning and environmental regulations, and only become effective once approved by Council.

Open days

Join us at one of our open days where we will present the review document and you will have the opportunity to provide input and get more information:

Date

Time

Venue

Saturday, 9 September 2023

10:00 - 14:00

Table View Primary School hall

Saturday, 16 September 2023

10:00 - 14:00

Leibrandt van Niekerk hall

Register

Online
Register online to receive updates.

In person
Visit the Subcouncil 3 offices to complete and submit the registration form.

Contact us

For more information on the Blaauwberg Road Corridor LSDF:

Email:

Customer Call Centre

Telephone:
0860 103 089 (toll-free 24/7)
GP0|#cc1f7b28-f43b-45ab-a0f2-08b4fefef7ed;L0|#0cc1f7b28-f43b-45ab-a0f2-08b4fefef7ed|Issues open for public comment;GTSet|#a7cfb90d-44ad-4426-98ce-565f79932396;GPP|#79e6adda-2aa2-4523-bc29-296828216c93Register online from July - October 2023 to receive updates.0
