Comment on the proposed application to renew the Atlantis aquifer integrated water use licence<span> <h2 class="sectHeading">About</h2></span> <p>As part of our Atlantis Water Resource Management Scheme (AWRMS) development and upgrade, we intend to apply for an integrated water use licence from the National Department of Water and Sanitation (DWS) for groundwater abstraction and the managed aquifer recharge (MAR) of the Atlantis aquifer.</p><p>We have an existing groundwater registration with DWS (registration certificate number 22060804) for the abstraction of 5 million-m³ groundwater per annum from the Atlantis aquifer. </p> We also have an existing water use licence (licence number 19/G21B/E2789) for recharging the aquifer and irrigation of municipal grass parks with treated effluent (volume: 5 142 095 m³ per annum) from the Wesfleur Wastewater Treatment Plant.
