Comment on the proposed renewal of a lease for City-owned property in Malton Road, WynbergComment on the proposed renewal of a lease for City-owned property in Malton Road, Wynberg<img alt="" src="https://resource.capetown.gov.za/cityassets/PublishingImages/CityConnectHeader.png" style="BORDER:0px solid;" /><div class="ExternalClass805B9D4D06AD49B8A49FE472F21C8374"><p>We are considering the lease of City-owned property in Wynberg, and we want to hear from you.</p></div><span> <h2 class="sectHeading">​​​​​​​​​​About​​​​​​​</h2></span> <p>In accordance with section 16.5 and 16.6 of the <a href="http://resource.capetown.gov.za/documentcentre/Documents/Bylaws%20and%20policies/Management%20of%20Certain%20of%20the%20City%20of%20Cape%20Towns%20Immovable%20Property%20Policy%20-%20approved%20on%2026%20August%202010.pdf" target="_blank">Management of certain of the City of Cape Town’s Immovable Property Policy </a>(adopted by Council on 26 August 2010 C54/08/10) and Chapter 4 of the Municipal Asset Transfer Regulations (2008) we are considering the lease of the following City-owned property:</p> <span> <table style="width:535px;"><thead><tr><th>Erf/Farm number</th><th>Extent (±Ha)​</th><th colspan="1">Street and suburb</th><th colspan="1">Current zoning</th></tr></thead><tbody><tr><td>Remainder Erf 67131 and Erf 91044, Cape Town </td><td>± 2835 m² </td><td colspan="1"> 29 Malton Road, Wynberg</td><td colspan="1">General residential 4</td></tr></tbody></table>​​​</span> <p>We plan to lease the property to <strong> Arundel Trust and Robinson Grandchildren Trust </strong>or its successors-in-title for parking and gardening purposes. </p><h4>Information statement</h4><ul><li> <strong>Reason:</strong> the property is not required for the provision of a minimum level of basic municipal service; </li><li> <strong>Expected benefit: </strong>the property is underutilised, surplus to Council’s requirements, no demand exist for same, and the lease will furthermore relief Council of a maintenance burden and generate funds for the City of Cape Town; </li><li> <strong>Expected proceeds:</strong> that the City will receive a market related rental of R46000.00 per month excluding VAT and including rates escalating at 6% per annum for the proposed lease for parking purposes, the rental to be reviewed after five years, subject at any time to six months’ notice of termination.
