Comment on the proposed lease of portions of City-owned property in Main Road, PlumsteadComment on the proposed lease of portions of City-owned property in Main Road, Plumstead<img alt="" src="https://resource.capetown.gov.za/cityassets/PublishingImages/CityConnectHeader.png" style="BORDER:0px solid;" /><div class="ExternalClassA15767D53EB04253AFD58DD7C9C70CF2"><p>We are considering the lease of City-owned property in Plumstead, and we want to hear from you.</p></div><span> <h2 class="sectHeading">​​​​​​​​​​​​​About​​​​​​​<br></h2></span> <p>In accordance with section 16.5 and 16.6 of the <a href="http://resource.capetown.gov.za/documentcentre/Documents/Bylaws%20and%20policies/Management%20of%20Certain%20of%20the%20City%20of%20Cape%20Towns%20Immovable%20Property%20Policy%20-%20approved%20on%2026%20August%202010.pdf" target="_blank">Management of certain of the City of Cape Town’s Immovable Property Policy </a>(adopted by Council on 26 August 2010 C54/08/10) and Chapter 4 of the Municipal Asset Transfer Regulations (2008) we are considering the lease of the following City-owned property:</p> <span> <table style="width:555px;"><thead><tr><th>Erf/Farm number</th><th style="width:123px;">Extent (±Ha)​</th><th colspan="1">Street and suburb</th><th colspan="1">Current zoning</th></tr></thead><tbody><tr><td>Erven 70498, 70500, 73804, 73805, 73806, 73807, 73943 and Remainder Erf 70499 and 70489 Cape Town</td><td style="width:123px;">± 1954,32 m​²<br></td><td colspan="1">Main Road, Plumstead </td><td colspan="1">Transport 2</td></tr></tbody></table>​​​</span> <p>We plan to lease the properties to <strong>Thorp Investments Pty Ltd </strong>or it’s successors-in-title for Vehicle display, vehicle storage purposes.</p><h4>Information statement<br></h4><ul><li> <strong>Reason:</strong> the property is not required for the provision of a minimum level of basic municipal service. </li><li><strong>Expected benefit: </strong>the property is underutilised, surplus to Council’s requirements, no demand exist for same, and the lease will furthermore relief Council of a maintenance burden and generate funds for the City of Cape Town. </li><li><strong>Expected proceeds:</strong> that the City will receive a market related rental of R53 000.00 per month, excluding VAT and including Rates escalating at 7% per annum for the proposed lease for Vehicle display, vehicle storage purposes only, the rental to be reviewed after five years, subject at any time to two months’ notice of termination.
