Comment on the proposed lease of portions of City-owned property in ParowComment on the proposed lease of portions of City-owned property in Parow<img alt="" src="https://resource.capetown.gov.za/cityassets/PublishingImages/CityConnectHeader.png" style="BORDER:0px solid;" /><div class="ExternalClass5E0A257F738A4A0B9FB9EF29ED13CD25"><p>We are considering the lease of City-owned property in Parow, and we want to hear from you.<br></p></div><span> <h2 class="sectHeading">About</h2></span> <p> In accordance with section 16.5 and 16.6 of the <a href="http://resource.capetown.gov.za/documentcentre/Documents/Bylaws%20and%20policies/Management%20of%20Certain%20of%20the%20City%20of%20Cape%20Towns%20Immovable%20Property%20Policy%20-%20approved%20on%2026%20August%202010.pdf">Management of certain of the City of Cape Town’s Immovable Property Policy</a> (adopted by Council on 26 August 2010 C54/08/10) and Chapter 4 of the Municipal Asset Transfer Regulations (2008) we are considering the lease of the following City-owned property:<br></p><div><table style="width:600px;"><thead><tr><th>Erf/farm number<br></th><th style="width:122px;">Extent (±)</th><th colspan="1" style="width:135px;">Street and suburb<br></th><th colspan="1" style="width:135px;">Current zoning​<br></th></tr></thead><tbody><tr><td>Erf 2244 and portion of Remainder Erf 2040, Parow</td><td style="width:122px;">± 51 ha<br></td><td colspan="1" style="width:135px;"><div>Frans</div><div>Conradie Drive<br></div> <br> </td><td colspan="1" style="width:135px;">Open Space 3: Special Open Space<br></td></tr></tbody></table></div>​​​ <p>We plan to lease the property to <strong>Parow Golf Club</strong> or its successors-in-title for sport and social purposes.<br></p><h4>Information Statement</h4><ul><li> <strong>a) The reasoning for the proposed granting of a long term rights to use, control, or manage the relevant asset: </strong> The property is currently leased to Parow Golf Club, who have applied for a new lease to continue sport and social activities. </li><li> <strong>b) Any expected benefits to the Municipality which may result from the granting of the rights:</strong> Council will receive a financial benefit in the form of a tariff rental, for the future benefit of the broader community of Cape Town. Furthermore the current activities contribute a social and economic benefit to the community. Entering into this lease will relieve the City of the maintenance and security burden. </li><li> <strong>c) Any expected proceeds receivable by the Municipality resulting from the granting of the rights: </strong>The applicant will continue to secure and maintain the property thus relieving Council of this burden. The City will receive the standard tariff based rental income for sporting purposes. </li><li> <strong>d) Any expected gain or loss which will be realised or incurred by the Municipality arising from the granting of right: </strong>No loss will be incurred by the City arising from the granting of rights. Gain for the City is expected that the security of tenure will lead to an upgrade of the site.
