Comment on the proposed lease of City-owned property in Melkbosch Strand

<span> <h2 class="sectHeading">About</h2></span> <p>In accordance with section 16.5 and 16.6 of the <a href="http://resource.capetown.gov.za/documentcentre/Documents/Bylaws%20and%20policies/Management%20of%20Certain%20of%20the%20City%20of%20Cape%20Towns%20Immovable%20Property%20Policy%20-%20approved%20on%2026%20August%202010.pdf" target="_blank">Management of certain of the City of Cape Town’s Immovable Property Policy </a>(adopted by Council on 26 August 2010 C54/08/10) and Chapter 4 of the Municipal Asset Transfer Regulations (2008) we are considering the lease of the following City-owned property:</p> <span> <table style="width:565px;"><thead><tr><th>Erf/Farm number</th><th style="width:122px;">Extent (±Ha)</th><th colspan="1">Street and suburb</th><th colspan="1">Current zoning</th></tr></thead><tbody><tr><td>Erf 610</td><td style="width:122px;">± 78 m² </td><td colspan="1">Cnr Beach Road and 11th Avenue </td><td colspan="1">Transport 2: Public Street and Public Parking</td></tr></tbody></table></span> <p>We plan to lease the property to <strong>Lukas Rautenbach T/A Lucas Soft Serve</strong> for commercial (Ice-cream Kiosk) purposes. <br></p><h4>Information statement<br></h4><ul><li>The reason for the proposal to grant a long-term right to use control or manage the relevant asset – Granting the proposed lease will generate a monthly market rental income for the City. </li><li>The expected benefit to the municipality that may result from the granting of the right – The City will benefit from this proposed lease in terms of receiving revenue. </li><li>The expected proceeds to be received by the Municipality resulting from the granting of the right – The City will receive the proceeds of a rental income of Rental of R12 250.00 exclusive of VAT and including rates for a period of 10 years. </li><li>The expected gain or loss that will be realised or incurred by the Municipality arising from the granting of right – No loss will be incurred by the City arising from the granting of right. </li><li>The proposed transaction includes a call for alternative proposals.
