Comment on the proposed lease renewal for City-owned property in Kuils River Comment on the proposed lease renewal for City-owned property in Kuils River <img alt="" src="https://resource.capetown.gov.za/cityassets/PublishingImages/CityConnectHeader.png" style="BORDER:0px solid;" /><div class="ExternalClass4D967199CB6443079E8238F05F1215F4"><p>We are considering the renewing the lease of City-owned property in Kuils River, and we want to hear from you.</p></div><h2 class="sectHeading">​​​​​​​​​​​​​About​​​​​​​<br></h2><p>In accordance with section 16.5 and 16.6 of the <a href="http://resource.capetown.gov.za/documentcentre/Documents/Bylaws%20and%20policies/Management%20of%20Certain%20of%20the%20City%20of%20Cape%20Towns%20Immovable%20Property%20Policy%20-%20approved%20on%2026%20August%202010.pdf" target="_blank">Management of certain of the City of Cape Town’s Immovable Property Policy </a>(adopted by Council on 26 August 2010 C54/08/10) and Chapter 4 of the Municipal Asset Transfer Regulations (2008) we are considering the lease of the following City-owned property:</p><table style="width:555px;"><thead><tr><th>Erf/Farm number</th><th style="width:123px;">Extent (±)​</th><th colspan="1">Street and suburb</th><th colspan="1">​Current zoning</th></tr></thead><tbody><tr><td>Erf 6274 and Erf 6661</td><td style="width:123px;">± 5072 m​²<br></td><td colspan="1">Cnr Van Riebeeck and Energie Street, Kuils River</td><td colspan="1">​Utility andOpen Space 2 (Public Open Space)</td></tr></tbody></table>​​​ <p>We plan to lease the property to <strong>MNI Durban South Motorts (Pty) Ltd </strong>or its successors-in-title for parking purposes. </p><h4>Information statement<br></h4><ul><li> <strong>Reason:</strong> the property is not required for the provision of a minimum level of basic municipal service; </li><li> <strong>Expected benefit:</strong> the property is underutilised, surplus to Council’s requirements, no demand exist for same, and the lease will furthermore relief Council of a maintenance burden and generate funds for the City of Cape Town; </li><li> <strong>Expected proceeds:</strong> that the City will receive a market related rental of R98 900.00 per month (excluding VAT and including rates). The monthly rental is to be adjusted on the basis of 7% per annum compounded annually on a pro rata basis commencing two months from date of valuation i.e. as from 2025.12.01.
